EQ6 mount

EQ6 modifiée

Synta EQ6, the mount to tinker!

Synta EQ6 mount is probably offering the greatest potential mounts in entry-level market. For less than 1000 euros, it helps to enjoy: :
  • Load capacity of 25 kgs
  • Very stable, very good telescopic tripod
  • exceptionally large Area for the motor
  • Mounting ballbearings Axis and worms
And recent versions:
  • Alloy gear with worm in steel -> Better coupling of the 2 elements
  • Polar finder lighten (Replica of Vixen), but with a very average reticule
  • Bubble level
The interest it offers to fans has allowed companies such as Mr Gierlinger (Germany) to offer tailored pieces such as gears / worm for the EQ6 to have a decent quality monitoring as large mounts (4000 Euros). Here you will find references and methods to improve the mount and push it to its maximum. Denis

Changing the drive with pulleys / belts and motor Nanotec

This modification allows a significant improvement of the periodic error of the mount, bringing on a quality and smoothness of the drive worthy of the best mounts. The new series is equipped with EQ6 worm steel and brass gears, good results are not expected, we get a quality monitoring very high but can carry very heavy loads. The fluidity and consistency of the periodic error, very close to a sinusoid make a periodic error particularly well suited for correction of Periodic error and even more to autoguiding. The driving of the motors with  Pic-Astro allows linearization of micro-step, opening the door to a fluid and constant motion until the basic movements of the mount.

A periodic error almost sinusoidal at +-9Arsec Peak to Peak... but measured with a lot of wind
Une EQ6 un peu chargée...

The measuring conditions of Periodic Error: the EQ6 is loaded with my 10 "Orion Optics, the SkyWatcher 80ED, double dovetail plate ... For a total of more than 16kg, the mount can do much more! !
